Jacksonville-based Firehouse Subs opened its first airport location July 1 at Jacksonville International Airport, launching the next phase in the fast-casual brand’s growth.

Firehouse Subs intends to expand into non-traditional locations, including more U.S. airport terminals, college campuses and military bases. 

The JIA location is in the post-security food court and includes its menu staples as well as new breakfast options available only to airport travelers. It also debuts a modified restaurant design for smaller spaces.

NAIOP hosts e-commerce panel on commercial real estate

The NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association Northeast Florida Chapter will present “E-commerce and its Impact on Commercial Real Estate” at its quarterly meeting July 27.

The event starts with registration at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at noon and the program at 12:35 p.m.

The event will be at the San Jose Country Club.

Panelists include Rick Schart, Stein Mart senior vice president of supply chain; Chris Flowers, CEO of shipping-and-handling.com; Tyler Newman, director of Cushman & Wakefield; and Jacob Horsley, director of Cushman & Wakefield.

Peter Anderson, senior vice president of Pattillo Industrial Real Estate, will moderate the panel, which will discuss how the evolution of e-commerce is affecting commercial real estate.

JAXUSA meeting to feature PGA Tour’s Monahan

JAXUSA Partnership’s third-quarter meeting Sept. 6 will feature PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan as the keynote speaker.

JAXUSA is the economic-development division of JAX Chamber.

The event starts with check-in at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch and the program at noon. It ends at 1:30 p.m.

The event is scheduled at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront.

The cost is $50 for JAXUSA investors, $65 for chamber members and $75 for nonmembers. Tables of 10 are $500, $650 and $750.

Appel joins Heritage Capital Group as a principal

Larry Appel joined Jacksonville-based Heritage Capital Group as a principal. His primary focus will be advising clients in mergers and acquisition transactions, and strategic consulting. Before joining Heritage, he was CEO of Skeeter Snacks. 

His more than 25 years of experience includes serving in senior executive positions with Winn-Dixie Stores, including head of operations, human resources and strategy development, as well as general counsel and corporate secretary. 

Blanco named chief operating officer at ICI North Florida

Joe Blanco was promoted to chief operating officer of ICI Homes’ North Florida Division. Don Wilford will continue as North Florida Division president and as a senior adviser to Blanco. Blanco has been with ICI Homes for 12 years. Wilford has entered his 22nd year as division president.
