Franchise owners and staff are training at the area’s first The Yard Milkshake Bar, a “Shark Tank” TV show winner that makes shakes, pints, sundaes, dips, cookie dough and other ice cream specialties.
The grand opening is scheduled May 20-22 at the shop at 4906 Town Center Parkway, Suite 406, in The Strand at Town Center.
The shop hired about 26 people.
Its “Jacksonville Exclusive,” The Sunshine Shake includes a cookie made by Liberty Bakery in Jacksonville.
The shop makes its cookie dough daily. Hershey’s Ice Cream provides the rest.
Prices range from $4 for a scoop or a cone to $19 for the top Pint Shake Bosses.
Those who buy and eat (or share) one of the shakes in a souvenir jar can wash it out at a wash station to take it with them.
Hours are noon to 8 p.m.
The Sunshine Shake is Orange Blossom ice cream with yellow and orange marshmallow drizzle in a yellow marshmallow dipped souvenir jar rolled in orange sugar sprinkles.
The $17 pint is topped with whipped cream, a Liberty Bakery sunshine cookie, a cotton candy cloud and more sugar sprinkles.
The Jacksonville menu features more specialty shakes such as The Mermaid, Birthday Cake, Salted Caramel Cheesecake and the lactose-free, gluten-free and vegan items.
The menu features milkshakes, floats, sundaes, edible cookie dough and scooped ice cream along with specialty bowls, like the $12 Sunshine Bowl.
There are 30 flavors of ice cream, eight varieties of edible cookie dough and almost 60 toppings of 75 cents or $2 each.
Scoops and cones start at 205 calories. Toppings add extra.
The site features the calorie counts, with one at the top the $19 Peanut ButterFinger Cheesecake Pint Shake Boss at up to 2,613 calories. It includes Butterfinger pieces, a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and a slice of New York cheesecake.
Charles Davall said previously it will be a locally owned and operated franchise of the Gulf Shores, Alabama-based The Yard Milkshake Bar.
Davall said it is the first of two area locations with the second to be determined.
The Yard Milkshake Bar has 22 locations in 11 states, including the four Florida shops in Destin, Panama City, Tampa and Jacksonville.
At The Strand at Town Center, it is next to the Grub restaurant.
