Thomas Foods requesting permit for $6 million conversion of Tyson plant

As Project Pan, the city approved $800,000 in incentives for the total $28 million investment in Northwest Jacksonville.

The city is reviewing a permit application created Oct. 24 for Thomas Foods International USA to convert the former Tyson Foods Inc. plant in Northwest Jacksonville at an estimated project cost of almost $6.1 million for its use as a meat-processing facility.

The Haskell Co. of Jacksonville is the contractor for the project at 5441 W. Fifth St.

According to the application, the project involves the maintenance and upgrade of an existing facility originally built for meat-processing operations.
