Two more Burger King restaurants, both more than a half-century old, are identified for upgrades, including renovation of one in North Jacksonville and the demolition and construction of a new one on North Main Street near Springfield.
That 59-year-old location is at 2717 N. Main St., between East 17th and 18th streets, south of Martin Luther King Parkway.
Duval County property records show the 2,551-square-foot fast-food and drive-thru was built in 1966.
City utility JEA issued a service availability determination letter March 13 for demolition of the restaurant and its site and for building a replacement.
The new construction is described as 2,525 square feet with associated parking, drainage and landscape work. It would seat 40 customers and include a drive-thru.
MJ Stokes Consulting LLC of Tampa is the consultant.
The application says the intent is to use the existing water and sanitary sewer services and that a new separate irrigation service will be requested.
Jad H. Batteh and several other owners comprise the ownership group.
For the 51-year-old North Jacksonville location, JEA issued a service availability letter March 13 for the remodeling of the location at 937 Dunn Ave., at northwest Dunn Avenue and Regency Drive, west of Interstate 95.
Burger King Co. LLC of Miami owns the 3,482-square-foot restaurant built in 1974.
MJ Stokes also is the consultant firm for that project.
The project includes remodeling and site improvements of the existing restaurant. No changes are proposed to the water and sanitary services. The restaurant seats 50 customers and has a drive-thru.
A JEA letter does not mean a development will take place, just that one is being explored.
