City issues permit for Starbucks shell building near Tamaya

The coffee company intends to build at northeast Beach and Kernan boulevards.

The city issued a permit March 25 for Venture Construction Co. to build the shell building for Starbucks Coffee Co. in the Tamaya area at northeast Beach and Kernan boulevards.

Tampa-based Venture Construction will build the 2,700-square-foot Starbucks and drive-thru on 1 acre at 12645 Beach Blvd. at a project cost $1.63 million. 

Plans show 50 seats comprising 36 inside and 14 on the patio.

CPH Corp. of Jacksonville is the civil engineer. Jeramy Williams of Burleson, Texas, is the architect.

The developer is shown on site plans as Ladera Properties of Fort Worth, Texas. 

BBKR Development Partners LLC bought 8.42 acres in August 2022 from Tamaya Loan Acquisition LLC for $4.85 million. 

BBKR Development has been selling parts of it.

Criterion Ladder LLC of Dover, Delaware, paid $1.5 million for about an acre at 12645 Beach Blvd. in March 2024.

BBKR sold 5.3 acres at 12625 Beach Blvd. in July 2024 for $4.85 million to an affiliated Atlanta LLC for construction of an almost $21 million project for Nutex Health. The permit was issued Aug. 6.

Parkway C&A LP of Lewisville, Texas, is the contractor for what plans specify is a total 28,303-square-foot ER and micro-hospital on the site.

Houston-based Nutex Health Inc. announced in June 2022 that it planned to build and open the facility. It will comprise eight emergency department exam rooms, eight inpatient beds and an imaging department with MRI, CT scan and X-ray services.

The developments are next to the Tamaya Market anchored by Sprouts Farmers Market and the Shipley Do-Nuts shop. The cleared property will have cross-access to the adjacent shopping center.
