About a year after receiving its building permit, The Home Depot in World Commerce Center will open April 17.
The store is south along International Golf Parkway about 1.5 miles southwest of Costco Wholesale, Buc-ee’s gas station and convenience store and Bass Pro Shops.
The store is built-out and branded with its signature orange color. Signage at its entrance displays the opening date. “Now open” signs are stored in the garden center but are not yet on display.
The Home Depot paid $6.97 million for the 14.7-acre site at 655 World Commerce Center Parkway on March 9, 2024.
Atlanta-based Home Depot USA Inc. bought the site from World Commerce Center LLP of Jacksonville.
A building permit was issued on April 23, 2024, for the 136,228-square-foot store with a garden center at a construction cost of $16.82 million.
Architecture and engineering firm GreenbergFarrow of Atlanta is the consultant. White-Spunner Construction of Mobile, Alabama is the contractor.
The Home Depot will display merchandise along the front apron of the store. A tool rental center includes outdoor storage and parking for rental equipment.
Home Depot has St. Johns County stores in The Pavilion at Durbin Park and at 1750 U.S. 1 S. in St. Augustine.
More area development
The Home Depot also is about 1.5 miles east of projects in development including a Walmart Supercenter and an AdventHealth campus.
The Walmart project includes eight outparcels, one of which will be a Walmart fueling station. Another will be a recently confirmed Chick-fil-A. The remaining six have not been announced.
Jacksonville-based Gatlin Development Co. through IGP WCC Project LLC purchased portions of three World Commerce Center parcels planned for the supercenter for $18.66 million on Feb. 23.
AdventHealth is in discussions with St. Johns County to develop a health care facility and campus that may include a hospital with ancillary uses related to hospital maintenance and business operations, an off-site emergency department, a helicopter landing site, medical offices and commercial space.
The not-for-profit hospital paid more than $13 million on Feb. 5 to acquire the land for its intended development, through Advent Health Palm Coast Parkway Inc.
