Ten months after granting demolition approval for the former West Elm furniture building at St. Johns Town Center, the city issued a permit March 12 for site work to build the Pinstripes Bistro Bowling Bocce venue.
The site-clearing and preparation permit shows a project cost of $8 million for the project at 10274 Buckhead Branch Drive, near Nordstrom at the South Jacksonville shopping center at northwest Butler Boulevard and Interstate 295.
Pinstripes proposes to build a two-story, 26,370-square-foot indoor bowling alley, restaurant and entertainment center as part of the fourth phase of St. Johns Town Center, a Simon Property Group holding that opened its first phase 20 years ago March 18, 2005.
Pinstripes Holdings Inc. says it is an experiential dining and entertainment brand combining bistro, bowling, bocce and private event space. It serves lunch, dinner, brunch and desserts, and has a bar.
Pinstripes announced May 7, 2024, that it would open in 2025 at St. Johns Town Center. The Pinstripes.com site says it will open this fall.
The Pinstripes land is where the 12,797-square-foot West Elm furniture store building was demolished and removed. The site is about an acre.
The city issued a permit May 16, 2024, for Fulcrum Construction LLC of Atlanta to demolish the West Elm building at a project cost of $361,498.
Northbrook, Illinois-based Pinstripes has 17 open locations. Two are coming soon in Jacksonville and Coral Gables. It also operates in Aventura and Orlando.
CEO Dale Schwartz founded the company in 2006.
Pinstripes says it offers “a combination of made-from-scratch dining, bowling and bocce and flexible private event space.”
“From its full-service Italian-American food and beverage menu to its gaming array of bowling and bocce, Pinstripes offers multi-generational activities seven days a week.”
It says its 25,000- to 28,000-square-foot venues can accommodate groups of 20 to 1,500 for private events, parties and celebrations.
