The free-standing HCA Healthcare emergency center in Nassau County opened March 10.
The 11,000-square-foot facility is at 462541 Florida 200 east of Interstate 95 in Yulee about a mile southwest of the Wildlight master-planned “Town District.”
HCA broke ground May 10, 2024. A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for March 31.
The center is on a 55.28-acre site HCA Healthcare bought from the county in July 2019 for $15.8 million.
The estimated project cost is $32 million, HCA Florida Healthcare Chief Operating Officer Tammy Razmic said in April 2024.
Birmingham, Alabama-based HOAR Construction is the contractor. Brentwood, Tennessee-based TMPartners is the architect with the design-build team of Limbach Engineering of Orlando.
The ER has 10 private rooms, one trauma bay and capabilities for CT scans, ultrasounds and X-Rays. It is open 24 hours seven days a week. There are 65 parking spaces.
A site plan shows two parcels on the property set aside for future development.
The ER is less than a mile west of the Baptist Nassau Crossing Emergency Room on the south side of Florida 200 that opened in November.
HCAFloridaHealthcare.com says it previously did not offer emergency care within 20 miles of the center.
“The goal of our new freestanding emergency room is to provide better access for patients needing emergency care in the Nassau County region,” said Reed Hammond, Chief Executive Officer of HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, in a statement. “As a part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in Florida, Nassau County will now be connected to a wide range of statewide healthcare resources previously not available.”
