UF Health St. Johns increases role with First Coast Heart & Vascular Center

The move “combines the expertise and outstanding patient care of two respected organizations,” says Kerry Watson, interim CEO of UF Health St. Johns.

UF Health St. Johns announced July 1 it is taking a more active role in the operation of the First Coast Heart & Vascular Center.

UF Health said it will be supporting the practice’s business operations.

“The collaboration is an operational alignment of services under the UF Health umbrella,” UF Health said in a news release.

There are First Coast Heart & Vascular Centers in Fleming Island, Jacksonville, Palm Coast, Nocatee and four St. Augustine offices. 

It provides general, interventional and vascular cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure, diagnostic imaging and nuclear cardiology.

“This collaboration is a fantastic opportunity because it combines the expertise and outstanding patient care of two respected organizations,” Kerry Watson, interim CEO of UF Health St. Johns, said in the release.

“We’ll be able to bring new resources to further advance heart health throughout Northeast Florida. By working together, we can collaborate, innovate and continue addressing cardiovascular disease — the leading cause of death in the nation.”
