Jacksonville City Council members Kevin Carrico and Ron Salem recently received honors for their leadership from two community organizations.
Carrico, the Council vice president and chair of the Land Use and Zoning Committee, was named Legislator of the Year by the Northeast Florida Builders Association.
“This award is about the power of partnerships between the building community and the local government,” Carrico said in a news release from the Council office. “Together, we are building not just houses, but stronger, more resilient communities.”
Salem, the Council’s immediate past president and chair of the Finance Committee, received the Good Government Award from the Rotary Club of South Jacksonville.
Among the Council’s actions during Salem’s presidency, which ended in July 2024, was approval of the $1.4 billion stadium deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
