Talbots appears to be relocating its St. Johns Town Center women’s clothing store to the Swoozie’s space at the The Markets at Town Center nearby.
The city is reviewing a permit application for Talbots in tenant space 4870-01 in The Markets at Town Center along Town Center Parkway.
No contractor is shown for the estimated $75,000 renovation of the 4,496-square-foot space. That amount can be adjusted during permitting.
The storefront is between J. Crew Factory and Woof Gang Bakery. The Swoozie’s gift and décor store recently closed there.
Talbots operated in St. Johns Town Center where the city recently issued a build-out permit for fashion designer Marc Jacobs.
Talbots associates told customers Jan. 7 that the retailer was closing Jan. 25 and the unsold inventory would be distributed to other area Talbots stores, which remain open.
An associate said Jan. 24 that inventory was low and the store likely would close by the end of the day.
Swoozie’s also is expected to close by the end of the day, said a store associate.
Swoozie’s is closing as part of the chain’s closure of 10 stores in seven states.
In Northeast Florida, Talbots has stores at 10311 Big Tree Lane, east of San Jose Boulevard and north of Interstate 295, in Mandarin; in Ponte Vedra Beach at 330 Florida A1A N., Unit 100, in the Shoppes of Ponte Vedra; and in Fernandina Beach at 1408 Sadler Road in Sadler Crossing.
It also has an outlet in the St. Augustine Premium Outlets.
Kimco Realty announced Jan. 8 it bought The Markets at Town Center at 4865 Town Center Parkway.
The seller was Big V Property Group of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Kimcorealty.com shows the Swoozie’s space as available for lease. A property manager could not be reached immediately for comment.
