Fifth Third Bank is planning a branch in the Wildlight master-planned community in Nassau County.

It will be its first location in the county.

The county’s Development Review Committee is scheduled to discuss the proposal Jan. 21.

According to 53.com, the Ohio-based bank operates in 11 states with 1,087 full-service locations. In addition to 14 branches in Florida, it has branches in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.

The bank was permitted to build its fourth St. Johns County branch Jan. 7.

Fifth Third reported assets of $214 billion in its 2024 third-quarter report.

It was founded as the Bank of the Ohio Valley in Cincinnati in 1858. In 1871, the Bank of the Ohio Valley was purchased by Third National Bank. Third National Bank and Fifth National Bank later merged, eventually becoming known as Fifth Third Bank.

The Fifth Third Bank branch in Wildlight would be the bank's first location in Nassau County.
