Witnessed by more than 100 Jacksonville University alumni, administrators and supporters, city officials and other guests cut the ribbon Aug. 26 to ceremonially open the permanent campus of the JU College of Law at 121 W. Forsyth St.

The third cohort of students began classes there a few weeks earlier, along with second-year students and the inaugural class that will graduate in May 2025.

The law school moved into the Forsyth Street space after two years at VyStar Tower, a few blocks away.

The renovation of 50,000 square feet of space on four floors was completed on time and on budget to begin a 10-year lease, Dean Nick Allard said.

City Council approved contributing $6.5 million for the $12 million renovation project.

In late February, the law school was provisionally accredited by the American Bar Association, granting all the rights of a fully approved ABA law school.

Its students are therefore eligible to take the Bar examination, become members of the Bar and qualify for jobs and clerkships open only to students graduating from ABA-accredited schools.
