Ace Hardware planning location in Nocatee

JEA is reviewing a service availability request for the store, which would be its eighth location in St. Johns County.

Ace Hardware is planning a Nocatee store across the street from Ponte Vedra High School along Davis Park Road.

It will be its eighth location in St. Johns County.

According to a JEA service availability request submitted Feb. 24, the store is planned less than a mile south of Nocatee Parkway and about 2 miles west of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Site plans show a 24,000-square-foot building with a 10,000-square-foot garden center.

The land is owned by Sonoc Co. LLC, part of the Davis family, which is developing Nocatee.

Matthews | DCCM of Jacksonville is the civil engineer.

Ace Hardware was founded in 1924 by a group of Chicago hardware store owners, according to AceHardware.com.

Consolidated revenues for fiscal 2024 totaled $9.5 billion, an increase of $360.3 million or 3.9% compared to the previous year, according to its annual report. Total wholesale revenues were $8.7 billion, up $321.3 million or 3.9% from the prior year. Increases were seen across many departments with outdoor power equipment, grilling, power tools and generators showing the largest gains.

Ace added 215 domestic stores in fiscal 2024 and closed 65 according to the report. Internationally, the company added 230 stores and closed 134, bringing the total store count to 5,966 at the end of the fiscal year.

Most Ace Hardware stores are independently owned and operated by local entrepreneurs, according to its website.

There are no permitting plans in review with St. Johns County.
