Baptist Health announced Feb. 6 it broke ground on the Baptist HealthPlace at Seven Pines campus and plans a spring 2026 opening.
The medical facility will offer a range of health services that includes primary care, according to its news release.
“By situating the campus in this dynamic and high-traffic area of southeast Jacksonville, Baptist Health is making quality care conveniently available right where people live, work and thrive,” Catherine Graham, senior vice president, clinical service lines and ambulatory business development for Baptist Health, said in the announcement.
Pavilion Health Services, which buys and holds properties for Baptist Health facilities, bought the land from Sawmill Timber LLC, comprising members of the Skinner family. It bought the 10.52-acre site in October 2021 for $10 million.
Initially, the campus will have two two-story medical office buildings.
The first will be about 52,000 square feet and will house primary care practices for family and internal medicine physicians, and offices for cardiologists. A wellness center will offer programs, coaching and education to promote preventative health care lifestyles.
Plans for a 68,000-square-foot building include an ambulatory surgery center. It will be designed to meet the health needs of the community as they arise.
“With the capacity to expand services over time, Baptist HealthPlace at Seven Pines is an investment in the long-term health and well-being of this community,” said Michael A. Mayo, president and CEO of Baptist Health.
Another medical office building is planned adjacent to Baptist HealthPlace to the east.
Onicx Group of Tampa is developing the two-story, 50,000-square-foot building on 3.53 acres. It bought the land Jan. 24 for $2.6 million.
To the west of the Onicx Group project is the planned fitness and athletic club Life Time.
The Seven Pines master-planned community is about 1,000 acres. When complete, it will have about 1,600 single-family homes, apartments and more than a million square feet of commercial and retail space.
Seven Pines stands for the seven Skinner brothers who looked after the family’s large landholdings.
The property has been owned by the Skinners for more than a century for agricultural uses such as silviculture, cattle grazing and hunting.
