The North Florida Land Trust announced Feb. 20 that Janyce Dawkins, Tom Goodrich and Natalie Healy joined its board of directors.

“We welcome Janyce, Tom and Natalie to the board and look forward to working together to buy land for conservation because it is now or never,” Allison DeFoor, president and CEO of the organization, said in a news release.

They started their terms at the January board meeting and each will serve a three-year term.

“Having a diverse board with various backgrounds helps guide our team and strengthens our mission. We have much to accomplish and will continue doing everything possible to save our natural landscapes.”

Janyce Dawkins

Originally from Louisiana, Dawkins began her professional career with BellSouth and attended law school at Florida State University. She practiced law in the Atlanta area for several years before taking a position as the director of the equal opportunity office at the University of Georgia.

After retiring, Dawkins and her husband moved to historic American Beach, where she is the immediate past president of the American Beach Property Owners Association.

Tom Goodrich

Goodrich has lived in Atlantic Beach since 1993. He is a private wealth adviser with Ameriprise Financial and a graduate of the University of Florida.

Born in Fort Lauderdale, Goodrich started surfing at age 12 and became a certified diver at 14. He began contributing to environmental organizations as soon as he could and regularly donates to several organizations. Goodrich said he can now dedicate his time and financial resources to NFLT.

Natalie Healy

Healy is a Jacksonville Beach resident who manages operations for The Healy Foundation alongside her husband. The foundation was established in 2002 to support nonprofit programs in education, the arts and the environment across Florida.

Healy has experience in account management, executive management and marketing. She received a bachelor’s in criminal justice from the University of North Florida and a Florida Teacher Certificate at Florida Community College at Jacksonville, now Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Healy also serves on the board of directors for Pace Center for Girls, Jacksonville.

More board moves

Dawkins, Goodrich and Healy join the 15-member board, which comprises people from diverse community fields.

Lisa Barton

In addition to the new board members, Lisa Barton has taken over the board chair position. Barton, a broker associate with Keller Williams Atlantic Partners, joined the board in 2021 and has been an NFLT supporter since its inception in 1999.

She takes over the role from Matt Rapp, who is now chair emeritus.

North Florida Land Trust is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and enhancing the quality of life by protecting North Florida’s natural environment.

Founded in 1999, the trust has preserved thousands of acres through donation or purchase as well as conservation easements.

It is funded largely by private and corporate contributions and works with willing landowners and public agencies at all levels of government, nonprofit partners and foundations, according to nflt.org.
