UF Health named Patrick Green senior vice president and Northeast Florida regional president for a new regional structure encompassing UF Health Jacksonville and UF Health St. Johns.
Green joined UF Health Jacksonville as its CEO in July 2023.
UF Health created two other regional presidents for its Central Florida hospitals and for Greater Gainesville, it said in a Feb. 6 news release.
The leadership structure is new to UF Health but is a proven model used by other hospitals around the country, Green said.
“Most health systems that have a presence in large communities or large regions like Jacksonville and state of Florida have similar roles. I think it’s new to us, but it’s definitely not new to other health systems," he said.
"It’s an ideal structure to really leverage resources to be more efficient, collaborate even more, and really align strategy,” he said.
In the news release, Stephen J. Motew, president and system CEO of UF Health, said, “I am confident this change recognizes the wide responsibilities of our leaders at a system level and will help ensure that we reflect the voices and experiences of faculty, community physicians, and staff across the organization, as well as those we collaborate with in the community, leading to a more aligned and patient-centered UF Health focused on clinical excellence.”
Green assumed the role this month but has been talking to members of UF Health St. Johns for more than six months.
“My first thing is listening to the team. I’ve been meeting the physicians, meeting the leaders, meeting the frontline staff, and really working with that team to help identify how we can build upon the great things that they’ve been doing already,” he said.
