The former Badcock Furniture & More in Orange Park is now Hometown Furniture, the store announced Feb. 6.

The store is at 1946 Kingsley Ave. across from HCA Orange Park Hospital.

The store is owned by spouses Chris Hage and Jamie Bliss, who had owned and operated the former Badcock since 2013.

All of about 380 Badcock stores closed after parent company Conn’s filed for bankruptcy in July. Conn’s acquired Badcock from Franchise Group in 2023.

Badcock operated in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Former Badcock executives Robert Ball and Matt Pridemore founded Hometown Furniture in October.

The Hometown Furniture at 1946 Kingsley Ave. is owned by spouses Chris Hage and Jamie Bliss.

Each Hometown Furniture location is independently owned and operated, according to a news release. There are about 30 locations across six states.

“Hometown Furniture is committed to filling the void left by the closure of Badcock stores in these local communities,” the release said.

“The transition from Badcock to Hometown Furniture has been one of the most challenging experiences we have faced in our careers, particularly when we reflect on the challenges we have already overcome, including the loss of our store in a fire in 2016 and the impact of COVID-19,” Bliss said in the release.

“Despite these setbacks, we are more committed than ever to the future and growth of Hometown Furniture. Our focus is on rebuilding and restoring the level of service and support that was lost with the closure of Badcock locations.

“Our goal is to replace the former footprint of many Badcock locations and to provide top-quality products and exceptional customer experiences to our loyal customers where they live.”

Bliss said Hometown Furniture will have a wider selection of inventory.

“We were limited in what we could sell when we were Badcock. It was very corporate. If someone wanted something and we didn’t have it, that was it,” she said. “Now we potentially have access to any vendor and we can appeal to a broader audience.”

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
