The Buffalo Wild Wings sports bar in The Avenues mall has permanently closed just days before the Super Bowl.
As of Feb. 4, the outside signage had been removed as well as tables and chairs.
It opened in December 2013.
Its closing leaves one full-service restaurant in the mall: Cielo Azul Mexican Kitchen & Seafood. It replaced Ruby Tuesday, which closed in 2020.
There are several restaurants open in the mall’s food court.
The Buffalo Wild Wings website lists Jacksonville stores remaining open at 4594 Tropea Way in Town Center Promenade and 13230 City Station in the River City Marketplace. The Clay County restaurant at 1940 Wells Road is also open.
A Buffalo Wild Wings GO at 10950 San Jose Blvd., Unit 12, in Mandarin opens Feb. 7, according to Google.
The city issued permits in October for three Buffalo Wild Wings GO locations.
In addition to the restaurant in Mandarin, locations are in the works at 660 Commerce Center Drive, Unit 140, in Southside Commons in Arlington; and at 13740 Beach Blvd., Unit 112, in Pablo Creek Plaza East in Beach Haven.
The Buffalo Wild Wings GO menu is similar to the full-line Buffalo Wild Wings. The GO menu includes wings, tenders, burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, sides, sauces, desserts, bundles, combos, party trays, a kids menu and more.
The GO restaurants are smaller and have no dining room. They are pickup and delivery only, which accounted for a third of Buffalo Wild Wings sales, according to an in April 2024 CNBC report.
The article said that a full-service Buffalo Wild Wings can cost between $2.44 million and $4.83 million depending on location and other factors. A Buffalo Wild Wings GO franchise can cost $560,000 to $1.05 million because they are a sixth the size of a full-service model.
Buffalo Wild Wings and Buffalo Wild Wings GO are part of Inspire Brands. It is reported the company may go public this year.
