Two hotels are being considered in West Jacksonville along Chaffee Point Boulevard, south of Interstate 10.
The sites are south of I-10, east of Chaffee Road and north of Crystal Springs Road.
JEA, the city’s utility, is reviewing service availability requests for a 110-room Home2 Suites by Hilton and an 85-room Courtyard by Marriott.
The requests specify 501 and 513 Chaffee Point Blvd. although the applications have the same property number, that of 501 Chaffee Point Blvd.
The 1.56-acre Home2 Suites site at 501 Chaffee Point Blvd. is next to the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store at 502 Chaffee Point Blvd.
JEA issued a service availability letter April 19 for the Home2 Suites by Hilton.
The 1.87-acre Courtyard by Marriott site is at 513 Chaffee Point Blvd., south of the Home2 Suites site.
Civil engineer William E. Tully III Inc. of Ponte Vedra is the applicant. The requests were submitted April 15.
A JEA request indicates a project is being explored and not that a deal has been negotiated.
Chaffee Hotel LLC of Lake City bought the properties in July 2017. The limited liability company is led by Minesh Patel.
Chaffee Hotel deeded the 501 Chaffee Point Blvd. property to Oasis Jacksonville LLC of Lake City in 2019. That LLC is led by Minesh Patel and Mahendra Patel.
The hotels would join at least four more along Chaffee Point Boulevard – Best Western Plus, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express & Suites. Those hotels total about 317 rooms.
Winn-Dixie operates a grocery store in that area.
The properties are 13 miles west of Downtown Jacksonville and about 7 miles west of Interstate 295.
