The Home Depot in World Commerce Center in St. Augustine is scheduled to open April 17.

A “Neighborhood Night” open to the public is scheduled April 16.

The store is along International Golf Parkway about 1.5 miles southwest of Costco Wholesale, Buc-ee’s gas station and convenience store and Bass Pro Shops.

The Home Depot expects to create 150 jobs, adding to the 206,200 it currently employs across all locations.

The Home Depot paid $6.97 million for the 14.7-acre site at 655 World Commerce Center Parkway on March 9, 2024. Atlanta-based Home Depot USA Inc. bought the site from World Commerce Center LLP of Jacksonville.

A building permit was issued April 23, 2024, for the 136,228-square-foot store with a garden center at a construction cost of $16.82 million.

Architecture and engineering firm GreenbergFarrow of Atlanta is the consultant. White-Spunner Construction of Mobile, Alabama, is the contractor.

Ahead of the opening, the store is hosting “Neighborhood Night” April 16 to celebrate with the community. The event is scheduled from 4:15 to 9 p.m.

According to a spokesperson, the event will feature games and refreshments, a flag-raising ceremony and a board-cutting ceremony with remarks from local elected officials.

Board-cuttings are a Home Depot tradition at store openings. Company representatives and local officials take turns with a power saw until an orange piece of wood clamped to two sawhorses splits in two.
