TPC Sawgrass announced April 15 it named Matt Borocz as general manager.
Borocz served as acting general manager since January and was assistant general manager for 11 years.
He succeeds Derek Sprague, who was named Chief Executive Officer of the PGA of America in December after seven years at TPC Sawgrass, according to a news release.
TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach is home to the PGA Tour headquarters and hosts The Players Championship in March. It has two individual courses, the Stadium Course and the Valley Course.
“Matt has been an invaluable member of our team for the past 21 years, contributing significantly to the club’s success while providing an unparalleled experience throughout the year, including during THE PLAYERS Championship,” Vic Aliprando, senior vice president of TPC Operations, said in a new release.
“His leadership and deep understanding of our operations make him uniquely qualified to step into this role, and we are confident he will continue to serve the club with the same excellence and care that he has always demonstrated.”
Borocz began his career with the TPC Network in 1999 at TPC Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, starting in outside operations and advancing to assistant golf professional.
He joined TPC Sawgrass in 2004, serving as assistant golf professional before being named head golf professional in 2007. He was promoted to assistant general manager in 2014.
“It’s a true honor to be trusted to lead the club I’ve called home for the past 21 years as I continue to work alongside this passionate and dedicated group of people,” Borocz said in the release.
A graduate of the PGA Golf Management program at Coastal Carolina University, Borocz has been a member of the PGA of America since 2004 and currently serves as president of North Florida PGA Section.
