Little Caesars can build-out space for a second St. Johns County location.
The county issued a permit April 2 for Lake City-based Skyline Construction to begin work on the $265,000 project in Grand Cypress Marketplace off Race Track Road.
Winn-Dixie is the anchor retailer at the center. It is planned to be converted to an Aldi, myfloridaretail.com.
The 1,659-square-foot restaurant is planned at 140 Little Cypress Drive, Suite 102, where Kazu Sushi Express operated. Other tenants there include Clean Eatz, Main Street Boutique and St. Johns Nail Spa.
Founded in 1959 by Mike and Marian Ilitch in Detroit, Little Caesars is the third-largest pizza chain worldwide, with more than 4,300 locations in 2,343 cities as of March 17, according to the data website LocationsCloud.com. It began franchising in 1962.
The company is known for its advertising catchphrase “Pizza! Pizza!,” which was introduced in 1979. It originally referred to an offer of two pizzas for the comparable price of a single pizza from competitors.
The company now focuses on its “Hot-N-Ready” $5.55 large pepperoni pizza with no wait time. It also sells pretzel and stuffed-crust pizzas, “crazy bread” sticks, cheese bread, wings and desserts.
The other St. Johns County Little Caesars is at 4205 U.S. 1.
