Chase Bank buys St. Johns County property for $950,000

The acquisition could signal the rise of its ninth branch in the county.

JPMorgan Chase & Co., through JPMorgan Chase Bank, bought land April 1 in St. Johns County for $950,000, indicating a bank branch may be planned off International Golf Parkway, east of U.S. 1.

The bank acquired the property from Jacksonville-based Shakas Properties LLC, whose address is listed as 1431 Riverplace Blvd., Suite 3702. State corporate records show the LLC is managed by Shahla Kasraeian and Ahmad Kasraeian.

A Chase Bank branch could be planned in St. Johns County east of U.S. 1 off International Golf Parkway.

According to its website, Chase operates eight branches in St. Johns, St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra Beach. 

The New York City-based company announced Jan. 31, 2024, that its Chase Bank subsidiary will open 10 more branches in North Florida and hire more than 100 people over the next three years for those offices and other needs. It has 20 branches at the time.

It now has 24 branches in Northeast Florida, according to its website, and continues to expand.

As of March 31, the bank was seeking construction approval for a branch and drive-thru in East Arlington at an estimated project cost of $1.5 million. The city issued a site-clearing permit for the project March 28.

Additionally, J.P. Morgan Private Bank, which serves ultra-high-net-worth clients, is opening its first office in the region at the Veranda Business Center along Florida A1A in Ponte Vedra Beach.
