After hurricane delay, Carnival Elation back in Jacksonville

The cruise ship will depart Sept. 27 for a three day voyage; JaxPort reopens.

The Carnival Elation arrived in Jacksonville Sept. 27 after staying offshore because of Hurricane Helene.

The Jacksonville Port Authority announced Sept. 27 that JaxPort is fully operational with no restrictions.

Carnival Cruise Line announced on its website the Elation depart the Jacksonville Cruise terminal Sept. 27 for a thee-day voyage, visiting Freeport in the Bahamas.

Carnival said all guests must be checked-in by 9:30 p.m. for departure shortly thereafter.   

Passengers will receive:

• A 25% refund for cruise fare, prepaid gratuities, beverage and WiFi purchases.

• An up to $100 per stateroom onboard credit.

The Carnival Elation, which holds about 2,400 passengers, is now the only cruise ship sailing from JaxPort’s Cruise Terminal.

Guests who are unable to sail will receive a 100% future cruise credit for their cruise fare and a full refund for any prepurchased items for the voyage.

Category 4 Helene made landfall at Deckle Beach in Taylor County about 140 miles west of Jacksonville with maximum sustained winds of 140 miles per hour Sept. 26.
