Five years after Air Canada bid adieu to Jacksonville, the airline is returning to Jacksonville International Airport with nonstop service to Toronto Pearson International Airport.
In a Sept. 12 release, JIA announced that the new Air Canada Express route would launch May 22, 2025. According to the Air Canada website, that flight is from Toronto.
The service will be operated on a Bombardier CJR900 jet that seats 12 passengers in business class and 64 in standard/preferred class.
Flights from Jacksonville depart at 10 a.m. and arrive in Toronto at 12:45 p.m. The return flight will leave Toronto at 6:30 p.m. and land in Jacksonville at 9:12 p.m.
“These flights will connect Jacksonville with Toronto, our largest unserved Canadian market, but they are also perfectly timed to offer Northeast Floridians easy connections to additional destinations in Canada, Europe and Asia,” Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh said in the release.
“We look forward to welcoming Air Canada back to JAX.”
Air Canada operated a Jacksonville-to-Toronto route from May 2016 through April 2019. The departure left JIA with no nonstop, scheduled international flights, although the airport continued to handle international charter flights and diverted aircraft.
Air Canada flights can be booked at aircanada.com. Roundtrips are shown as low as $361.
There is at least one Jacksonville connection to Toronto. Jaguars owner Shad Khan owns the Four Seasons Hotel there. He is building a Four Seasons Hotel & Residence near EverBank Stadium on the Downtown Northbank.
