Graders needed for essay contest

The high school contest is sponsored in part by the Jacksonville Federal Court Bar Association.

The 2024 U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division High School Essay Contest, sponsored in part by the Jacksonville Federal Court Bar Association, is seeking volunteer graders.

Student essays are due Sept. 29 and graders will have until Oct. 21 to complete their scoring.

Participating students, their teachers and schools have a chance to win cash prizes.

First place will receive $2,000; second place, $1,000; and third place, $500. Fourth through 10th places each will receive $150.

Teachers of the top three winners each will receive a $500 classroom grant. The school with the most submissions will receive a $1,000 award.

Essays are being submitted by ninth-12th grade students in Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Flagler, Hamilton, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Suwannee and Union counties.
