Former University of Florida basketball player Patric Young is the guest speaker for the Jacksonville Bar Association’s member luncheon Sept. 19 at the Doubletree by Hilton Jacksonville Riverfront.

A member of the UF men’s basketball team from 2010-14, Young became the 50th 1,000-point scorer in Gator history and finished his career 27th on the all-time scoring list with 1,307 points.

Young became the Southeastern Conference’s first three-time Scholar Athlete of the Year, receiving the recognition in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

After graduating, the 6’10” center played for several NBA developmental teams and internationally in Turkey, Greece and Italy before he was involved in an automobile accident in 2022 that left him paralyzed from the waist down.

Young now is a motivational speaker and leads the PY4Foundation, which offers support to people facing life-altering events and the financial and mental challenges caused by loss of limbs or paralysis.
