The city issued a permit Oct. 28 for contractor Balfour Beatty Construction LLC to clear the site for the third Jacksonville International Airport parking garage at a project cost of $8.43 million.

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority is building the garage on an existing parking lot at the airport at 2400 Yankee Clipper Drive in North Jacksonville. The site is 3.38 acres.

The 151,009-square-foot, six-level garage will be built south of the hourly-parking and daily-parking garages.

The $100 million parking garage will add 2,000 spaces next to the existing daily garage.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in June 2026, six months before the new six-gate Concourse B opens for service.

A renovated Economy Lot 3 opened north of Economy Lot 1, initially adding 300 parking spaces and growing over time to 800 spaces.
