An unidentified gas station and convenience store that matches the size of a Wawa is planned in St. Johns County.
The site is at the southeast corner Florida 207 and Hilltop Road across from a Dollar General.
Site plans show a 6,372-square-foot store and eight fueling stations with 16 pumps. There are 34 parking spaces.
The county’s development review committee is scheduled to discuss the project plans Nov. 6.
The project plans submitted by project civil engineer Envision Design + Engineering of Jacksonville also say two parcels at the 5.89-acre site will be developed for commercial use at a later date.
Jacksonville-based Chase Properties is the landowner.
Pennsylvania-based Wawa has seven locations in St. Johns County.
Envision has worked on other Wawa projects in Northeast Florida, including one open at 1331 University Blvd. N. in Arlington and one permitted to build out in the Beachwalk mixed-use development in Saint Johns.
At the April 2017 groundbreaking for its first Northeast Florida store along Gate Parkway at The Crossing at Town Center, Wawa CEO Chris Gheysens said the company invests $6 million into each store, translating into a $240 million investment in Northeast Florida.
Wawa confirmed its interest in Northeast Florida in January 2016 as it was expanding in the state.
According to the data provider website scrapehero.com, there are approximately 1,050 Wawa locations. In addition to Florida, it operates in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C.
