Ortega Park, the rebranded Roosevelt Square shopping center near the Avondale and Ortega neighborhoods, is adding Chicken Salad Chick.

The city issued a permit Nov. 22 for Adkins Construction LLC to build-out the 2,650-square-foot, 64-seat restaurant at 4495 Roosevelt Blvd., Units 306-307, at a project cost of $350,000.

The restaurant space is in an end space next to Great Clips. It is in the 300 building – also shown as Building E – that is bisected by the Ortega Alley pedestrian retail feature and anchored by West Marine and Orangetheory Fitness.

Chicken Salad Chick in Ortega Park is planned next to Great Clips at 4495 Roosevelt Blvd., Units 306-307.

The Franklin Street commercial real estate group represents the landlord.

The shopping center is east of Roosevelt Boulevard, between Interstate 10 and Jacksonville Naval Air Station.

Atlanta-based Chicken Salad Chick sells, as its name implies, chicken salad as well as other salads, sides, soups, sandwiches, sweets, a children’s menu and more. It also caters.

It has four area locations in St. Johns Town Center; in South Jacksonville at Philips Highway and Bentley Road; in The Pavilion at Durbin Park in Saint Johns; and St. Augustine.

Its website is chickensaladchick.com.

Ortega Park is being transformed into a 750,000-square-foot mixed-use property. Tenants include Publix Super Markets Inc. and Ulta Beauty.

Restaurants –  both on outparcels and within the center –  include Metro Diner, Panera Bread, First Watch, Moe’s Southwest Grill, LongHorn Steakhouse, Taco Bell and Chick-fil-A.
