The historic San Marco estate of Downtown Investment Authority CEO Lori Boyer and retired Circuit Court Judge Tyrie Boyer is back on the market.

Boyer confirmed Oct. 21 that the residence, at 2234 River Road, was being listed for a second time in two-plus years. In a social media post, Jacksonville Realtor Anita Vining listed the price of the seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom, 8,764-square-foot estate at $6.75 million.

The Boyers put the riverfront residence on the market in August 2022 at $5.75 million, minus an adjacent lot that is now included in the new listing.

“Then our son and his fiancee decided that they wanted to get married here, so we took it off the market,” Lori Boyer said. “Then we thought we were going to build on the lot, but have decided not to and are selling the entire parcel.”

She said her upcoming departure from the DIA and city government was a factor in selling the estate.

Boyer, who received a one-year contract extension with a one-year renewal option in May 2024, has committed to remaining with the DIA through the end of the first year of the extension, including spending several months helping on-board her successor. With the year extension, which came a month before her contract was set to expire, her current contract is set to end June 30, 2024.

“I want to downsize and have something where it’s easier to close the door and travel and have a little bit more freedom than I do when I have a large property that we take care of,” she said. “It won’t be as important to have this lovely view and lovely home if we’re spending a lot of time elsewhere.”

Boyer said she and her husband own a smaller home in San Marco, a former rental property, that is an option as their next residence.

She said the home sale wouldn’t affect her plans with the DIA. She said she was planning to fulfill her commitment to serving out the initial year of her contract extension.

The Daily Record reported in 2022 that the home was built in 1929 for Carl H. Swisher, the grandson of Swisher Cigar Co. founder John Swisher. Its features include a pool, courtyard, fountain, greenhouse and a three-car garage with a separate, second-story living quarters. The home was built in the Mediterranean Revival style.

The property, built on two elevated lots to protect it from flooding, underwent a major renovation in 1999 that added a game room and a remodeled kitchen.

Boyer bought the home with her late husband, Dr. Ron Nemeyer, for $822,845 in 1987.

The Instagram video posted by Vining describes the property as having 170 feet of river frontage and offering “breathtaking views and unparalleled privacy.” Vining is a sales associate and luxury collection specialist for Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Florida Network Realty.

Boyer served two terms on Jacksonville City Council from 2011-19 representing the San Marco area as the District 5 representative. She was elected Council president in 2016.

Boyer has led the DIA since 2019.
