A Mexican restaurant specializing in tequila is planned for 9753 Deer Lake Court in South Jacksonville near Tinseltown.
Tequilas D’Oro Mexican Restaurant is seeking a city zoning exception for the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
The ordinance was on the agenda for its second reading at the City Council Land Use and Zoning Committee meeting Oct. 15.
Ordinance 2024-792 is scheduled for a public hearing at the Nov. 6 LUZ meeting.
The 8,365-square-foot building is the former site of Jacksonville Beer Garden. It also was Taverna Yamas Greek Cuisine and Yamas Hookah. It is near the Hampton Inn & Suites, Miller’s Ale House, Mellow Mushroom and the Cinemark Tinseltown Jacksonville and XD movie theater.
The building, constructed in 2001, is on 1.69 acres.
Acadian Enterprises Inc. of Jacksonville bought the building in 2000 for $886,407. The principal is Kung-Ti Yen.
Plans show three bars and two outdoor dining areas with 22 tables, and an indoor dining area with about 40 tables.
The Design Studio of Jacksonville is the interior designer.
Restaurant representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
