The St. Johns River Water Management District issued a permit Sept. 20 for a minor permit modification for Pinstripes Bistro Bowling Bocce at St. Johns Town Center.
Jacksonville civil engineer England-Thims & Miller Inc. applied for the modification July 19 for the site within St. Johns Town Center.
The modification is for the demolition of an existing building and sidewalk to be replaced with a two-story building and sidewalk on about an acre.
Pinstripes Holdings Inc. says it is an experiential dining and entertainment brand combining bistro, bowling, bocce and private event space. It serves lunch, dinner, brunch and desserts, and has a bar.
Pinstripes announced May 7 that it will open in 2025 at St. Johns Town Center. The Pinstripes.com site says it will open that summer.
The Pinstripes site is at 10274 Buckhead Branch Drive near Nordstrom. It proposes a two-story, 26,370-square-foot building where the 12,797-square-foot West Elm furniture store building was demolished and removed.
The city issued a permit May 16 for Fulcrum Construction LLC of Atlanta to demolish the West Elm building at a project cost of $361,498.
Northbrook, Illinois-based Pinstripes said that with its 17 open locations, it has 23 locations open or under lease, with additional sites under consideration. CEO Dale Schwartz founded the company in 2007.
The five sites coming soon are two in Florida – Jacksonville and Coral Gables – as well as in Seattle and Bellevue, Washington, and Walnut Creek, California.
The 17 open are in 10 states and Washington, D.C. The two open in Florida are in Aventura and Orlando.
A Sept. 4 investor presentation for the first quarter of 2025 says eight more sites are under a letter of intent or under negotiation and 20 more sites are under consideration.
Pinstripes Holdings, a public company, says that “from its full-service Italian-American food and beverage menu to its gaming array of bowling and bocce, Pinstripes offers multi-generational activities seven days a week.”
“Its elegant and spacious 25,000-38,000 square foot venues can accommodate groups of 20 to 1,500 for private events, parties, and celebrations.”
Indianapolis-based St. Johns Town Center LLC, led by Simon Property Group, is the owner and developer of the center at northwest Butler Boulevard and Interstate 295.
St. Johns Town Center opened in 2005 with many well-known retailers already represented in the market, including a prototype Dillard’s department store, and the area’s first Apple store.
It is considered the primary central retail shopping center of Northeast Florida and includes retailers from discount, like Target, to luxury, such as Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Nordstrom.
Simon Property Group filed plans in August 2019, several months before the March 2020 pandemic shutdown, for a fourth phase at St. Johns Town Center.
The West Elm building was in the location of Parcel 4 of that fourth phase.
