The city issued a permit Oct. 8 for Tom Rectenwald Construction Inc. to remodel space at St. Johns Town Center for sunglasses retailer Oakley at a project cost of $250,000.
Cortland Morgan Architect of Pittsburgh is the architect.
Oakley will relocate into 1,009 square feet of space at 4751 River City Drive, Unit 119, where Francesca’s had operated.
The storefront is between Chico’s and Lucky Brand Jeans in the strip of stores anchored on one end by Warby Parker and the other by Altar’d State. It is near Maggiano’s Little Italy.
The Francesca’s women’s clothing store closed in May.
The St. Johns Town Center Oakley store is one of 20 Oakley stores in Florida and the only one in Jacksonville. There are 172 in 39 states. Oakley is one of the global Paris-based EssilorLoxottica vision care and eyewear brands.
Oakley will relocate within St. Johns Town Center because watch retailer Breitling 1884 is remodeling the space Oakley will vacate at 4751 River City Drive, Space 143-A, an end space next to Levi’s and across a side street from Urban Outfitters.
The city issued a permit Sept. 3 for Hurd Construction Management LLC of Jacksonville to renovate a 1,253-square-foot storefront in what is now the Oakley sunglasses retailer space at 4751 River City Drive, No. 143A, for Breitling 1884.
Sargenti Architects of Paramus, New Jersey, is the architect.
Founded in 1884, the Breitling watchmaker is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Breitling USA is based in Wilton, Connecticut.
Along with being sold in luxury jewelry stores, Breitling has about 50 boutiques in the U.S., including five in Florida in Aventura, Boca Raton, Miami, Orlando and Tampa.
The only jewelry store in Jacksonville that carries Breitling is Mayors at St. Johns Town Center, according to the store.Breitling.com site.
Landlord Simon Property Group has been relocating retailers in the Town Center as they group stores by market.
