City utility JEA issued a service availability determination letter Nov. 19 for a Hampton by Hilton hotel in Yulee.
The hotel is planned at 75966 Mentora Road about half a mile south of the master-planned Wildlight community and near hotel chains Holiday Inn Express & Suites and Comfort Inn.
Site plans call for a four-story hotel with 76 rooms. There are 81 parking spaces.
Jacksonville-based Alliant Engineering Inc. is the civil engineer. Yulee-based Bhavani Ventures, LLC is the franchisee.
According to Hilton.com, Hampton by Hilton has more than 3,000 locations across more than 40 countries and territories. More than 800 are planned. It was founded in 1984 by holding company Promus Hotel Corporation of Memphis, Tennessee, and purchased by Hilton Worldwide in 1989 for $3.1 billion.
Hampton by Hilton updated its name from Hampton Inn in March and announced a new North American prototype that is 2,000 square feet smaller than its current design. It will launch in several cities in early 2025.
It is part of a portfolio of brands that includes Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton, Curio, DoubleTree by Hilton, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton and Hilton Grand Vacations Club.
