Delta to offer nonstop flights from Jacksonville to Austin

The daily service to the Texas capital begins in May.

Delta Air Lines will offer daily nonstop service from Jacksonville International Airport to Austin, Texas, starting May 7.

According a Nov. 25 news release from the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will depart at 8:55 a.m. and arrive in Jacksonville about 12:35 p.m. Flights from Jacksonville will depart at 1:15 p.m. and arrive in Austin at about 3 p.m.

Delta will operate the route with an 76-seat Embraer E175 aircraft.

Delta will be only carrier offering nonstop service to Austin. In years past, American Airlines and Frontier offered nonstop flights to the city.

“Delta offering daily nonstop flights to Austin, one of our largest unserved markets, is a huge win for our business and leisure communities,” Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh said in the release.

Austin is the Texas state capital and the home of the University of Texas.

According to schedule data published by Cirium Diio Mi, Delta currently provides nonstop service from Jacksonville to Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, New York and Minneapolis-St. Paul.
