A panel discussion about affordable workforce housing is scheduled for Nov. 20 at The Jessie Ball duPont Center in Downtown Jacksonville.

The goal is to find ways to involve government, the private sector and the philanthropic community to develop ways to create more workforce housing in Duval County, according to a Nov. 19 news release from the duPont Fund.

The discussion participants will include:

  • Michael Boylan, Jacksonville City Council member
  • Brett James, planning director, city of Jacksonville
  • Alesia Scott-Ford, multifamily housing director, U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development
  • Chris Crothers, director of Impact Investing, Jessie Ball duPont Fund
  • Laura Phillips Edgecombe, moderator, Jessie Ball duPont Fund.

The meeting is 5-7 p.m. at The Great Hall on the first floor of the center at 40 E. Adams St.

The Jessie Ball duPont Fund is hosting the discussion.

This event is open to the public and will provide the foundation for the invitation-only Catalyzing Local Climate Action conference Nov. 21-22 at the DuPont Fund offices.

The conference will focus on identifying and attracting federal and state resources for affordable housing.

Catalyzing Local Climate Action is presented through a partnership of C40 Cities, Climate Mayors, the Urban Sustainability Directors Network and the Jacksonville Environmental Protection Board.
