Zaxbys announced Nov. 18 it opened a to-go-only restaurant in the Dinsmore area of Northwest Jacksonville.

The restaurant offers drive-thru and walk-up service with no dining room.

It is at 9031 New Kings Road at northeast New Kings Road and Interstate 295.

The restaurant franchise is owned and operated Aaron and Tihesha Mitchell through Cash Jaz Inc. They said in a news release it is the first Zaxby’s to-go-only restaurant in Florida.

Zaxbys opened its first two corporate-owned to-go-only prototypes in 2022 in Memphis, Tennessee, and in 2023 in Clemson, South Carolina. The first franchise-owned to-go-only restaurant opened in June 2023 in Athens, Georgia.

“As we unveil this reimagined Zaxbys location, we’re looking forward to making a lasting impact on the community as a valued neighbor by partnering with local schools and organizations to give back,” the Mitchells said in the release.

Ronald and Jessica Gosselin of Jacksonville own the property.

Property records show the building is 1,690 square feet on 1.2 acres. The news release says the building is 2,004 square feet.

Hat Creek Construction of Comer, Georgia, is the builder.

The Zaxbys smartphone app can be used to place pick-up orders. Orders also can be delivered using UberEats, DoorDash or Grubhub.

The restaurant expects to hire 50 workers.

Zaxbys, founded in 1990, specializes in chicken and salads. There are 950 locations in 17 states. Its headquarters is in Atlanta.
