In honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, an oversized American flag is on display over the entrance to the Duval County Courthouse in Downtown Jacksonville.

Duval County Clerk of Courts Director of Communications Brian Corrigan said in an email that when the courthouse maintenance team had an issue raising the flag Nov. 8 because of a broken motor, they reached out to JEA, who immediately agreed to help.

While the oversized flag is displayed on other occasions through the year, as designated by Chief Judge Lance Day, “this event was especially meaningful due to the presence of the JEA crew,” the release said.

“This is a great example of our amazing community partners working together to honor our veterans,” Clerk Jody Phillips said. “We are thankful that, due to the efforts of our teams from Court Administration, JEA, the Clerk’s Office, and the City’s maintenance crew, the American flag proudly waves in front of the Courthouse in tribute to those who have given so much to our country.”

The courthouse is at 501 W. Adams St. The JEA headquarters is nearby at 225 N. Pearl St.
