St. Johns County is reviewing plans for a free-standing ambulatory surgery center in St. Augustine.
It is proposed at 5500 Race Track Road, west of Interstate 95 and east of Florida 9B across from Beachside High School.
Plans show the 16,000-square-foot center will have four exam rooms and 89 parking spaces.
North Florida Surgeons, through Surgeons Investment Company II LLC, bought the property Sept. 30 for $2.56 million from Gate Petroleum Co., which sold it through Durbin Creek National.
Jacksonville-based Prosser PRIME AE is the engineer.
According to its website, services provided by North Florida Surgeons include bariatric, colon and rectal, endocrine, hand and wrist, and plastic and reconstructive surgeries.
According to the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, the centers focus on providing same-day surgical care, including diagnostic and preventive procedures.
The St. Johns County Development Review Committee is scheduled to discuss the project Nov. 20.
