PRIME AE Group Inc. announced May 29 it acquired Jacksonville-based planning, engineering and landscape architecture firm Connelly & Wicker Inc.

Baltimore-headquartered PRIME AE is a “multi-discipline engineering and architecture firm” that operates in nine states with 21 U.S. offices. It is owned by NewHold Enterprises, a New York-based private investment firm.

The news release did not disclose financial information about the deal.

Connelly & Wicker, also called CWI, is headquartered at 10060 Skinner Lake Drive, No. 500, west of  Town Center. According to its website, Robert D. Connelly and Marvin L. Wicker founded the company in 1983 to provide civil engineering services to developers and governmental agencies. It also has an office in Winter Park.

“After 41 years of dedicated service, we are happy to join a larger team that will enable us to help the community we care so much about,” Connelly & Wicker Inc. President Rick Welch said in the release.

“This will create new opportunities for our employees and our company. Together our team can be even stronger and continue to exceed expectations of clients like we have since 1983.”

“The collaboration between our firms, long discussed among leadership, has finally come to fruition,” Brad Davis, senior vice president of the Southeast region at PRIME AE, said in the release. “The combination of firms is a real win for our Florida team.”

In 2022, PRIME AE acquired Jacksonville-based planning and engineering firm Prosser Inc.

Since 2018, PRIME AE has acquired Braun & Steidl Architects in Ohio, Penza Bailey Architects in Maryland, in Integrated Engineering in Kentucky and Jacobi, Toombs & Lanz in Indiana.

PRIME AE said its strategy is to develop regional “design and engineering centers.”

“Throughout my career, prioritizing client success through strong relationship building has yielded the greatest results. Integrating CWI into the PRIME AE family reinforces this philosophy and propels our vision for the Southeast forward. We are dedicated to advancing engineering, planning, and design services that set the standard in the industry,” Bergman said in the release.
