The Atlantic Sun Conference will move its conference headquarters to the WaterView Office Park along Deerwood Park Boulevard, which is across Butler Boulevard from St. Johns Town Center, in South Jacksonville.

Jacksonville-based NAI Hallmark posted May 13 on LinkedIn that co-CEO Christian Harden and Sarah Teagle, vice president and office specialist, represented the ASUN in the lease negotiations.

The ASUN will lease 4,210 square feet in the WaterView Building II at 10752 Deerwood Park Blvd., the post said.

CBRE Senior Vice President Oliver Barakat represents the landlord in leasing the property. A property brochure shows that Barakat has been marketing a 4,210-square-foot space in Suite 105 on the ground floor.

The WaterView Office Park is along Deerwood Park Boulevard, which is across Butler Boulevard from St. Johns Town Center, in South Jacksonville.

Duval County Property Appraiser records show the three-story, 85,000-square-foot structure was built in 2007. FRAPAG Waterview JAX LLC of Ponte Vedra Beach owns the property.

The site is north of Gate Parkway, near Deutsche Bank.

Jacksonville-based RS&H Inc. anchors WaterView I at 10748 Deerwood Park Blvd. S. RS&H provides architecture, engineering and consulting services.

The ASUN plans to complete its move by Sept. 1.

The ASUN announced May 8 at a City Hall news conference that it is relocating its headquarters from Atlanta to Jacksonville, a move that city leaders said was a step toward boosting sports tourism in Northeast Florida.

WaterView Office Park is the home to multiple tenants.

The ASUN, the athletic conference for 12 Southeastern schools, said at the news conference that it will relocate this summer from Atlanta to headquarters in an office plaza south of St. Johns Town Center across Butler Boulevard.

It did not announce the office building or address.

ASUN Commissioner Jeff Bacon said the move will bring the conference’s 15 staff members to Jacksonville and make ASUN the only NCAA Division I conference rooted in Florida.

Bacon said the conference decided to relocate from Atlanta for reasons that included the rising cost of living, which caused challenges in recruiting staff, and a crowded college athletics environment.

“You get drowned out in a city of 7 million people sometimes,” he said.

Duval County has 1 million residents and the seven-county region of Northeast Florida is heading toward a population of 2 million.

Bacon said the ASUN looked at six cities before choosing Jacksonville for reasons such as a lower cost of living, good schools and a location close to member schools Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida.

Bacon said the relocation creates an opportunity to bring some of the conference’s 23 championship events to Northeast Florida, where it recently held its women’s lacrosse championship tournament.
