Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls, established a decade ago, plans to open in The Pavilion at Durbin Park.
In Northeast Florida, the Annapolis, Maryland-based company opened in Fernandina Beach in Nassau County in October 2023.
Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls says on masonslobster.com it is coming soon to Durbin Park in St. Johns County.
It will open at 120 Durbin Pavilion Drive, Suite D1, in the Saint Johns shopping center.
The Pavilion at Durbin Park is along Race Track Road, west of Florida 9B.
The Shopping Center Group Partner and Executive Vice President Stephanie McCullough and Senior Vice President Kelly Pulignano represent Gatlin Development Co., the landlord.
McCullough said Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls will lease the former Simply Mac space, a 2,400-square-foot restaurant in an endcap in Building D.
Brian Platock with Florida Retail Group represented Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls. Michael Taradash is the franchisee for the location.
When it announced the Fernandina Beach opening, Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls said the decade before, founder Dan Beck was a seafood buyer for local restaurants and traveled to Maine to source lobster.
He launched Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls and began franchising “so more people could get their decadent lobster rolls in their hands.”
Masonslobster.com said the Fernandina Beach menu features lobster rolls and other dishes.
“Lobster is a delicacy, but that doesn’t mean it has to cost a fortune or require a reservation to eat it,” Beck said in the news release.
“Mason’s exists to serve up high-quality lobster in classic New England recipes in a casual, friendly setting where people can sit back, relax and enjoy the food, scenery and each other without all the pretense.”
The website says in Fernandina Beach, Mason’s at 708 Centre St. is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
An online menu shows rolls are $14.95 to $25.95.
Mason’s offers five styles of rolls. Customers have the option to add 50% more lobster meat to any roll.
The Classic Roll is served chilled with mayonnaise and lemon butter, while the Connecticut Roll is served warm and tossed in butter. Both are made on a buttered, toasted, split-top bun.
There also are lobster BLT, lobster salad and shrimp rolls.
The menu includes salads, lobster macaroni and cheese, lobster grilled cheese, lobster bisque, New England clam chowder, potato salad, cole slaw, chips and tater tots.
There is a kids menu, whoopie pies, Maine Root soda, soft drinks, beer and wine.
Mason’s has 30 locations, including seven in Florida.
