Gate building car wash on U.S. 1 in St. Augustine

The project is planned on 2.21 acres of vacant land south of East Watson Road.

St. Johns County issued a permit May 1 to build a Gate Express Carwash at 4980 U.S. 1 in St. Augustine.

The 5,128-square-foot car wash is planned on 2.21 acres of vacant land south of East Watson Road and adjacent to a CVS Pharmacy, according to the permit application. The project cost is $2.2 million.

Jacksonville-based ShayCore Enterprises, Inc. is the contractor.

The land is owned by Gate’s BFC Holdings Property Holdings Inc., according to the St. Johns County Property Appraiser.

Gate acquired the land in 2016 for about $1.1 million.
