AmeriHealth Caritas is renovating space on two floors in the Cambridge West building it leases at 8171 Baymeadows Way W. in Deerwood Center in South Jacksonville.
The work appears to be a consolidation because it formerly leased the entire four-story building and now the first two floors are available for lease.
The LoopNet.com real estate site shows that 16,130 square feet is available on each of the first and second floors, totaling 32,260 square feet.
The city issued a permit June 24 for the $1.76 million project to renovate 16,848 square feet on the third floor and 558 square feet on the fourth floor of the four-story building.
Jacksonville-based Dav-Lin LLC is the contractor. PJA Architecture of Drexel hill, Pennsylvania, is the architect.
An AmeriHealth Caritas spokesperson said June 20 the company had no comment on the project.
Plans show conference and training space on the third floor. Fourth-floor use is not specified.
AmeriHealth Caritas Health Plan of Philadelphia is shown as the business owner.
G.F. Florida Operating Alpha Inc. of Jacksonville is the property owner.
AmeriHealth Caritas opened the operations center in 2014 and was expected to fill up to 400 jobs at the time.
AmeriHealth.Caritas.com says the company serves about 5 million Medicaid, Medicare, Children’s Health Insurance Program and Health Insurance Marketplace members in 13 states, including Florida, and the District of Columbia.
