Baptist & Wolfson St. Augustine Emergency Room and Imaging Center is opening June 17.
Baptist Health announced the opening in a June 12 news release.
The 23,879-square-foot free-standing facility is at 461 Outlet Mall Blvd., off Interstate 95.
It houses the Baptist Emergency Center for adults and the Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center for patients under 18.
An adjoining imaging center will provide outpatient imaging services, equipped with the latest technology to offer X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, mammography and bone density screenings.
The project cost is estimated at $21 million.
The center is on 8.5 acres that Baptist Health Properties Inc. bought in May 2021 for $6.8 million.
It is the site of the demolished St. Augustine Outlet Mall.
The hospital bought enough land for expansion, including an additional 5,000 square feet on the south end of the emergency department as well as another 70,000 square feet for administrative and physician offices and outpatient procedural space to the north.
“There’s been a lot of excitement about this new facility from St. Augustine residents following the original purchase in 2021,” Matthew Zuino, Baptist Health executive vice president and chief operating officer, said in the release.
“Baptist Health has always been committed to meeting the health care needs of residents in St. Johns County, and this is one important part of that strategy.”
Perry-McCall Construction Inc. is the contractor.
