A Dutch Bros Coffee shop is in the early stage of development at Elevation Pointe in St. Johns County.
The Oregon-based coffee chain plans a 950-square-foot drive-thru location at County Road 208 off Interstate 95.
The county is reviewing a permit application filed June 5 by Elevation Pointe LLC for design approval of the shop.
Orlando-based Elevation Pointe is the landowner, developer and civil engineer.
The company applied for a permit April 15 to build a Dutch Bros shop at 4560 Race Track Road in Saint Johns.
Dutch Bros will have a double drive-thru and a walk-up service window, parking and a trash enclosure. There will be no indoor or outdoor seating.
County department approvals for the project are required from the Environmental Division, Historic Preservation, Planning and Zoning and Technical/Transportation Development to ensure the project is a good fit for the area. A building permit will be required for construction.
Dutch Bros sells coffee and other beverages and a limited menu of pastries with no cooking on-site. It offers cold brew, chai, hot coffees, energy drinks, teas, lemonades, smoothies and its signature Dutch sodas.
The food menu includes granola bars and muffin tops.
The name is pronounced “Bros” and not as “brothers.”
Dutch Bros expects to open at least 150 to 165 new shops in 2024. According to data company Scrape Hero, it had 971 locations in the United States as of May 20.
The company reported revenue of $965.8 million for 2023, up from $739 million in 2022 and $497.9 million in 2021.
Brothers Dane and Travis Boersma founded Dutch Bros in 1992. Dutch Bros Inc. was formed June 4, 2021, to become a public company. It is traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
