Longtime Jacksonville news anchor John Bachman and former JAX Chamber spokesman Officer Matt Galnor are partnering to launch their own communications firm.

Bachman Galnor Communications will provide such services as strategic planning, political consulting, crisis communications and media training, according to the firm’s website. A formal announcement of the firm’s launch is expected July 29.

Bachman anchored Action News Jax for nearly 10 years, giving his final newscast for the organization on July 24.

In an Action News Jax story announcing Bachman’s departure, he said, “It has become clear to me that now is the perfect time for me to turn a page in my career and do something new and different – something I have been thinking about doing for years.”

Bachman, a broadcast journalist for 27 years, anchored evening newscasts that were aired on CBS affiliate WJAX-TV 47 and Fox affiliate WFOX-TV 30. During his final broadcast, he said he and his family had put down roots in Jacksonville and that, “You can’t get rid of this sappy guy anytime soon.”

Galnor joined the chamber staff in 2014 after serving in a corporate communications role at Baptist Health in Jacksonville. He has been in corporate communications since 2011, having also served as a writer and editor at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville. Before that, he had been a reporter in Michigan and Jacksonville, including spending 10 years as a reporter for The Florida Times-Union.

Galnor served as chief public affairs officer for the chamber.

“His perspective from both sides of media is important to helping you tell a clear, concise story and reach the audience you’re looking for,” the Bachman Galnor Communications site says.

As for Bachman, the site promotes his ability to help companies craft and deliver messaging, saying his “years of uncovering relevant, impactful stories taught him that most experts in their fields know their fields, but not their stories. They’re great at their thing, but not great at communicating their thing to their people.”
