World Golf Village restaurant anchor Murray Bros. Caddyshack plans to serve its bar-friendly food for at least another decade, according to its owners.

Partners and longtime friends Andy Murray and Mac Haskell confirmed their plans in early July with leasing agent World Commercial Realty of Palm Beach.

The golf-themed restaurant at 455 S. Legacy Trail E106 in St. Augustine opened in June 2001.

Murray said when the World Golf Hall of Fame and Museum closed in 2023, some area residents mistook that Caddyshack would do the same.

Mac Haskell and Andy Murray are the owners of the Caddyshack restaurant in St. Augustine.

“Since the Hall of Fame closed down, there’s a lot of people who think we closed down and it’s simply not true,” Murray said. “We are wide open and ready for business. We have facilities where people want to do parties, weddings, rehearsal dinners.”

Murray and Haskell said that over time Caddyshack's clientele makeup has shifted from mostly tourists to a more local base who are repeat visitors.

Haskell said when Caddyshack opened 23 years ago, it was “surrounded by cow pastures.”

“When we first got there, we were in the desert,” Haskell said. “But our business has flipped, which is what we want.”

They said local business is booming thanks to St. Johns County growth.

“In 2008, when the real estate crash happened, anything related to golf or resorts was bad,” Murray said. “But it’s coming back and all of that building that was supposed to be done is happening now. It’s building like crazy. In St. Johns County there’s all these new people, new money. People like it.”

He said staff turnover is low, with some Caddyshack employees “sticking around” for more than 20 years.

The restaurant and bar is planning for interior and exterior painting and new kitchen equipment. Murray didn’t have a project cost, but said, “Nothing is cheap.”

Menu revisions also are planned.

Murray, a trained chef, developed Caddyshack’s menu, which includes burgers, chicken tenders, bowls, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, steaks and chicken and waffles. He trains the Caddyshack cooks.

“We’ll rotate around. We’ll put in some new dishes and take some things off,” he said. “We’ll look at what’s working and what’s not working.”

A second Caddyshack operates in Rosemont outside of Chicago at 5440 N. River Road. It opened in August 2018.
